We have a donkey...

So yesterday, as you do on an average Thursday...Kitchen Witch adopted a donkey, not literally because the Kitchen Witch garden is way too small to keep a donkey in...

We adopted a donkey from The Donkey Sanctuary (where else really?) http://www.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk/

The problem was choosing which donkey to adopt because actually we wanted all of them...it came down to names so we looked up the meanings and coupled with her little story the decision was made...(the non conformist bit in the story was the cincher really)

Welcome to Millie the Kitchen Witch donkey...

Her story:

Millie the mule is our very own Hollywood starlet with a number of fantastic performance tricks up her sleeve.

Before she joined us here at the Sanctuary, Millie loved to participate in medieval re-enactments using all her performance skills and really revelled in the applause from her adoring fans.

She has had a variety of owners including the Ministry of Defence, who found her to be too non-conformist to keep and so lovely Millie found a home at the Sanctuary.

and her name means:

In Latin the meaning of the name Millie is: Servant for the temple; Free-born; noble. Feminine form of Camillus. Famous bearer: Roman mythological Volscian warrior queen Camilla.

I have had the pleasure of visiting the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary on a couple of occasions, it makes a lovely day out and the donkeys are incredibly well looked after, I hope to go visit Millie there this summer.

Watch out for update blogs on Millie...
