Garnet by Unity
Garnet is the name for a group of silicate minerals
crystallized in a cubic system. It has several forms and colours according to its
mineral base that vary in chemical composition and physical properties. Its
name comes from the Latin word 'granatus' (seed-like) because it looks similar
to a pomegranate seed.
Garnet is a fire stone and is aligned to the planet Mars and
the root chakra. It is usually red but can come in other colours including
pink, green, orange, yellow, brown and black.
Garnet is a powerfully protective stone, it is said to warn
of approaching danger and was often carried in the past as a protective
talisman. It can be used for psychic protection, and being linked to the root
chakra will keep you grounded, giving you a strong foundation and protecting
you from negative energies.
This is an energizing and regenerating stone that enhances
creativity, strengthens willpower, revitalizes and balances the sex drive
bringing courage, endurance, stamina and fortitude, all signs of a balanced
root chakra.
Garnet is believed to lend support when we are going through
a crisis or trauma and is particularly helpful in situations where there seems
to be no way out. It brings courage and hope into seemingly hopeless situations
and prevents anger being directed inwards, which leads to stress-related
conditions. It helps you let go of unwanted behaviours and habits, removing
inhibitions and opening the heart, inspiring love and devotion.
Garnet aids in disorders of the spine, bone and cells, it
purifies the heart, lungs and blood and boosts the immune system. It also
supports the thyroid and spleen and repairs DNA.
