My
favourite time of the year and it isn’t just because October includes
Samhain…honest! I love the autumn, the
crisp fresh air, the crunch of leaves under foot and the beautiful colours of
the trees and fields. Oh and of course
sitting indoors on a dark evening, curtains closed, sofa, blanket and a good
book having just scoffed a big bowl of casserole and dumplings…bliss.
To
me this is a time to work on your inner self, a time of hibernation. Take the time out to spend with YOU.
Meditate
and work with your divination tools.
Take a look at what worked for you over the past twelve months and what
didn’t, do a personal MOT check. Take a
good look…what is in your reflection?
With
the arrival of Samhain comes the thinning of the veil between the worlds, a
time to remember those that have passed over and raise a glass to our
ancestors.
There
is a theme of death at this time of the year.
The
last harvest is taken in and the plants start to wither and die but what they
are actually doing is taking shelter to conserve and rebuild their energies to
store them over the winter so that they are ready for the spring to be reborn.
Goddess to work with:
Vivienne
A
powerful sorceress and to be honest a bit power hungry she used any means she
could to get what she wanted. She is
often associated with the Lady of the Lake in the Arthurian legends and said to
have escorted Arthur to the Isle of Avalon at his death. She can work with you in sex or couples
magic and also to warn us about using manipulation…
Juturna
A
Roman goddess of water, fire, fate, divination, protection and balance she was
often associated with wells and fountains.
She can be called upon also to help put out emotional fires. Work with Juturna when using smoke divination.
Styx
A
Greek goddess of the underworld and the river Styx she is one of the Titan
generation of Okeanides. She is
associated with hatred. The river Styx
flowed forth from the underworld with corrosive waters.
Energy/Spell Work
Communicating
with ancestors and departed loved ones is easy at this time, for they journey
through this world on their way to the Summerlands. It is a time to study the
Dark Mysteries and honour the Dark Mother and the Dark Father, symbolized by
the Crone and her aged Consort.
October
is a good time to work magic for:
Clearing
Inner
work
Visualisation
Banishing
Psychic
work
Divination
Planning
new projects
Manifestation
Honouring
your ancestors
Balance
Justice
Removing
blockages
Ambition
